Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our Alexandra, VA group as a Senior Project Architect/Project Manager-Rail/Metro Stations with a minimum of seven years of experience.

 

Job Details:

- Organize and coordinate project teams and team assignments to complete architectural projects

- Prepare, review and approve station footprint drawings with site conditions, land availability, building offsets, structures and property gates. Locate lifts, stairs, escalators, columns with site conditions according to local building codes, NFPA, etc

- In charge of coordinating and developing the architectural aspects of metro project, specially focused in architectural design including operation facilities, stations and platform features, mechanical rooms, rolling stock, and park-n-rides

- Evaluate and review construction plans (including blueprints and narrative descriptions), indicating expected duration, and estimated cost through completion, expected benefits and projected improvement in system performance for each alternative

- Lead in the finalization of architectural designs & conceptual drawings for Metro Stations, depot and surrounding regions

- Finalize station locations with public use, importance and site suitability

- Review and finalization of stations functional architectures drawings prepared by design consultants

- Review and finalize Design Process, Commercials and Quality

- Check dimension drawings, land use and scope of commercial; development

- Liaison with Statutory Bodies (Obtaining clearances and approvals from municipalities, Fire - Department and other local authorities)

- Review, respond to and accept shop drawings, material submittals and design related questions

- Attend and lead design and construction coordination meetings

- Knowledge of design, production, construction techniques, procedures, codes, and standards of design

- Design of Metro stations, landscape, green buildings



Qualifications:

- Extensive knowledge of Urban and Infrastructure Planning is required

- Proficient in the use of computer design and understand Revit Architecture, AutoCAD, Photoshop, - Architectural Desktop and other programs required for design and drafting

LEED accredited or certified for suitability design and green buildings preferred

- Experience in coordination’s with Civil, structural and MEP disciplines

- Excellent communication and time management skills

- Minimum of seven years in construction of Railway/Metro, Infra projects is required

- Familiarity with local codes is required

- Membership of a professional Architectural Association such as RIBA or AIA is preferred

 

Education:

Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Architecture
