Allan & Lewis
Our first story features Atkins’ chairman (and former apprentice engineer), Allan Cook, in conversation with Lewis Wade, a first year apprentice in our UK design and engineering division.
Allan started his career in engineering as an apprentice electrician with his father’s contracting business. A chartered engineer with more than 30 years' international experience in the automotive, aerospace and defence industries, he became chairman of Atkins in February 2010. With his work in schools and colleges around the UK, Allan takes a very hands on approach to inspiring the next generation of engineers.
Lewis Wade joined Atkins in 2014 as an apprentice on the London structures team. Having completed A-levels in Maths, Physics and Business Studies, he’s currently studying BTEC Civil Engineering at the College of North West London.
