Ayesha Ghazli, Apprentice Project Manager, Atkins

Apprentice Project Manager

What is your role at Atkins?

I am an Assistant Project Manager working on HS2 doing Key Account Management.

Tell us a little bit about your background?

I started my apprenticeship at 18 once I finished my A levels, obtained my Level 4 APM PMQ qualification and starting a Masters Degree in Programme and Project Management in September

What inspired you to become a Project Manager?

I have Project Manager qualities – confident, sociable, good at delegating, organised and persuasive, so I thought this could be a good career path to go into, as I find it easy to deliver and manage projects.

What is the best thing about your job?

Every day is different, and I meet a lot of people on a daily basis which I enjoy.

Why do you love working at Atkins?

I love the Atkins working environment and I like the people I work with. The flexible working is also something I love.

When have you felt most proud to be an Atkins employee?

When I always get asked to do jobs like this! I enjoy getting involved with different activities.

What makes a good day at work?

Getting lots done and having a good chat with everyone.

What has been the most influential moment in your career?

Being part of the Key Account Management team and Stakeholder management team on HS2.

What do you think has had the biggest impact on your career development to date?

Having a vast amount of experience, I have moved around a lot of different projects so I have had the opportunity to experience a great amount in the 2 years I have been here - making me a well rounded project manager. Nothing comes as a surprise now as I have probably come across it before which is nice.

What would you say to someone thinking of joining Atkins?

Do it! It is a brilliant company to work for who support career and education development. There are major opportunities to travel as well which is important to some people – particularly if you are young!
