'My Career'

To excel in the markets we serve, we need a workforce that is highly skilled, professional and motivated to succeed. Paying attention to performance and development helps everyone to understand their personal contribution to our business.

‘My Career’ is a programme focusing on the performance and development of all our people within Atkins. It comprises five building blocks:

My Career is about getting the best from our people. The ultimate aim is to create a consistently high performance culture across Atkins.

What's in it for you?
  • My Career puts you in the driving seat in managing your performance and skills, building on your strengths and abilities
  • The online Performance and Development Review (PDR) system makes it easier for you to record your goals, achievements and agree development activities to drive your career in Atkins
  • Atkins is supportive in helping you to do your best, wherever your interests and aspirations lie
  • My Career helps everyone understand how they contribute to the bigger picture and supports us in delivering a quality service to our customers
  • Regular dialogue with your manager helps provide clarity about goals, expectations and support available to you

At the heart of successful careers lie open and honest conversations.  Performance and Development Reviews (PDRs) are a key part of the ‘My Career’ programme and provide a way for you to clearly see how your contribution links to the overall business goals.

‘My Career’ Online – our IT system to capture, store and manage information about personal performance and development - also provides tools to support your learning and development:
  • resources to help you identify learning needs (e.g. career paths, learning styles, diagnostic tools).
  • a training catalogue which provides options to address skills, knowledge and experience gaps (including formal training, e-learning, on-the-job learning and other methods such as reading or mentoring).
  • a system which allows for easy booking  onto and take part in training, which in turn ensure a seamless request process.
  • ways to evaluate learning and provide a rating on how effective you thought the learning intervention was (similar to Amazon / E-bay).  This has the added benefits of instant feedback which drives continuous improvement.
  • access to e-learning and other learning materials are standard which can be accessed at your convenience.
  • record keeping to keep track of your training and accreditations which in turn support CPD record planning.

A framework is in place for each career path outlining the key attributes and responsibilities to help facilitate conversations around career direction and personal development planning.

Each of these programmes include a range of assessment tools (psychometrics; interview assessment; coaching dialogue with leading experts) to provide you with information to ensure appropriate level of personal stretch.
