What have been your key achievements since joining Atkins?
For me, one of the most satisfying and fulfilling things I’ve done since joining Atkins is to improve graduate life through my role as the graduate representative for our Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology business. I’ve been able to act as a liaison between the business and graduates; speaking to senior staff, communicating key messages and developing ways to improve graduate recognition and development. This also inspired me to write an article which amazingly was published in the Management Consultant’s Association newsletter and website (MCA) in April.
What attracted you to Atkins?
Coming from an engineering background I was attracted to Atkins for its pedigree in the engineering field and its reputation as having an excellent graduate scheme. When applying I actually was struck by how much I identified with and was excited by what the management consultants within the business do. The idea that I could be involved in such a wide variety of challenges, solving business problems, improving efficiencies, engaging with senior stakeholders and project managing really appealed to me. I feel like I’ve got a great group of people around me in this part of the business.
What other activities have you been involved with?
Apart from working at Europe’s busiest airport (Heathrow) and with our Chairman in the Defence Industry; I have been involved in a lot within Atkins. I have helped plan our Graduate Induction for 2016, attended the annual Ski Trip, given a briefing to my fellow graduates and managers and ….well I’m sure there is much more to come!
