How to apply

To find out if we’re right for each other we’ve designed a process that’s easy to follow and will help you show us your best. It will be challenging at times and you’ll need to plan your time so you can give it your all. You can only submit one application per graduate recruitment cycle so we’d like you to take your time learning about us – let’s make sure the role you apply for is the right one for you.

We want you to perform at your best at each stage of our recruitment process and can make adjustments to ensure this. So whether you consider yourself to have a disability or not, or would simply like to know how we can support you better, please contact us confidentially on 0121 483 5089 or graduates@atkinsglobal.com.

At Atkins, we recognise our business is built from global talent and actively seek a diverse workforce. Are you studying in the UK on a Tier 4 visa? Visit our FAQs page for further info or talk to us about how we can support you in.

**COVID-19** update

Following UK Government announcements of new measures to help tackle the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to share some further guidance on our recruitment processes here in the UK. Our priorities are ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our people and our candidates. One of the latest Government guidelines to facilitate social distancing is for people to work from home where possible. As such, for any UK early careers applications made on or after 18th March 2020 face-to-face assessment centres or interviews will no longer be possible.

We’re looking into online / virtual alternatives to enable us to complete our recruitment process but bear with us during these unprecedented times. We’ll continue to listen to feedback from our candidates and evaluate how we operate in the best interests for everyone. For any questions, please contact us on 0121 483 5089 or graduates@atkinsglobal.com.

    • Browse the information across our careers site to learn more about the roles that are right for you. Please ensure you read the associated job descriptions for each sector you are interested in as there may be opportunities for graduates across a range of markets and locations.

    • So you’ve chosen the role, and you’re ready to apply. We’ll ask you to kick things off by completing a short registration process designed to gather some basic details about you.

    • Our video based situational judgement test uses a series of multiple choice questions and presents you with a number of different work-based scenarios. It’s been designed as bespoke for Atkins and all of the scenarios presented are based on typical situations you may find yourself in once you join Atkins as a graduate.

As the name suggests it is a test, so it’s really important that you focus on your answers and take it seriously, as the outcome will determine whether you progress to the next stage of the process. You’ll only have one opportunity to do it - so take your computer somewhere quiet, go through the introduction guidelines and use the test question to give you a feel of what to expect.

As an equal opportunities employer Atkins is committed to making adjustments to the assessment process. If you require any adjustments before taking any of our online tests and you wish to discuss this please contact us at graduates@atkinsglobal.com.

    • Here you’ll give us some more information about you, your experience, skills, behaviours and demonstrate your suitability to Atkins. Please give yourself time as this is your opportunity to showcase yourself and suitability to Atkins. As we do not consider CV's it is important that all of the information you want captured is conveyed in this section.

    • Again, find somewhere quiet you can focus undisturbed. It’s time for some short tests to assess your abilities. Concentrate and take the allocated time as we'll need you to pass these to continue. If you're able to practice beforehand you should find some practice tests online.

    • You’ll arrange this at a time that suits you. Here we’ll want to find out more about who you are and your recruitment advisor will share more about the role and next stage of the process.

    • As the last stage in the process here you will spend some time at an Atkins office alongside other applicants being considered for the role. This is your chance to show us your best in a series of activities as well as an opportunity for you to learn more about our culture and office environment. We will let you know as soon as possible if you have been successful in securing a position.

Please do get in touch if you require any adjustments or if there are any requirements or accessibility needs that we need to consider please let us know when confirming your attendance, including any dietary requirements as food and drink will be made available for you on the day.

Hints and tips

1) Do your research…. Find out everything about our development programme and the industry you’re applying to. Make sure you meet the minimum criteria detailed on our job descriptions and that you only apply to one role.

2) Focus your application….Tailor the information you provide to the role you have chosen. Make sure your passion comes across and reference any related projects or modules you’ve previously been involved in within this subject.

3) Take your time… Make sure you don’t rush any step in our recruitment process. You can always save your application and return to it at another time.

4) Check, check and check again... Revisit your application before you submit it to make sure there are no errors and that you’ve added everything that’s required! It’s also a good idea to undertake some practice tests for the ones included in our selection process, just so you feel more prepared once the time comes.

GOOD LUCK!
