Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Bartow, FL office (Greater Tampa Bay area) as an Administrative Assistant Project Coordinator.

 
 

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

 

Under supervision, provides clerical support to team of professionals and managers to the solution of planning problems and the coordination of related project activities. Work may involve working directly with the Florida Department of Transportation supporting various programs and projects in the Intermodal Systems Development (ISD) Office.

 

Training on the job duties below will be provided.

 
 

JOB DUTIES

 
  • Schedule and direct collection, analysis, and updates of vehicle traffic counts by consultants and/or Department staff.
  • Review data and perform regression analysis of count station history to assure accuracy of data. Load data into mainframe database using a personal computer.
  • Oversee maintenance of the Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) for Planning/Transportation Data Analytics features and updating Roadway Inventory Tracking Application (RITA)
  • Updates, prepares, and distributes Straight Line Diagrams (SLDs) for the District. Adds GPS coordinates to SLD's county lines.
  • Review completed construction project plans and track all final acceptance dates for completed construction projects to schedule needed Transportation Data Analytics (TDA) activities per TDA procedures.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and SharePoint sites within Systems Planning and develop and provide current and historical traffic statistics maps and reports in response to requests from within the Department, and from private industry, the general public and other government agencies.
  • Perform Equivalent Single Axle Loading (ESAL) forecasts requested by design project managers for pavement design of new roadway construction, reconstruction, and resurfacing which is required by procedure and is a necessary component of roadway design projects.
  • Develop recommendations regarding the addition and deletion of count stations and oversee Permanent Traffic Monitoring Sites (PTMS) inspections for new installs or re-installs on resurfacing projects; determine locations for installations of PTMS and coordinate with project managers to furnish, install, maintain, and operate these sites. Update the count station inventory as new stations are added or existing are deactivated.
  • Maintain the District's Traffic Flow Break and Count Station data in statewide databases as changes occur. Responsibilities include maintaining data accuracy and running bi-annual data edits to ensure no conflicting data or data errors exist before production and updating the Traffic Count Locator Map.
  • Work with Central Office in collecting, analyzing and updating various statistical data. This includes describing the characteristics and performance of the transportation system, and defining traffic segment breaks and factor categories.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
 



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

High school diploma (or equivalent) plus one year related experience.

 
 

SPECIAL SKILLS

 

Strong organizational skill, technical writing, computer and communications skills desired.
