Atkins have developed a “One Atkins 2020” strategy for the future. To support this initiative Atkins Group IS have defined an operating model for 2020 to revolutionise the way IS services are provided to the company, moving from a ‘Business as Usual’ focus to an organisation driven by Business Value. Key concepts include: transitioning to digital products, adopting agile delivery approaches across the organisation, leveraging cloud services, and applying focus to supporting Atkins project bids and delivery.
The Application LifeCycle Engineer will join a team vetting applications and supporting them throughout their lifecycle. Key tasks will involve accepting new requests, obtaining media, test installing applications, resolving incidents, software metering and portfolio management. They will also work in a larger Application Delivery and LifeCycle environment, supporting other work processes and offering customers a quality, efficient and effective service. This will include licence server maintenance and management of enhanced rights.
The Application Services Engineer will:

Accept requests for new applications and challenge requirements where necessary

Obtain media and maintain the asset register
-
Install applications remotely for users who require urgent attention

Maintain the licence servers including documentation and licence upgrades
-
Process requests for enhanced rights and maintain documentation
-
Set up software metering in SCCM
-
Carry out other LifeCycle tasks
-
Work to agreed service level agreements using a call management system
-
Update customers on call progress and act as a point of contact
-
Maintain and improve the relevant processes
-
Liaise with other teams to achieve solutions
Experience and Requirements
We are looking for a confident individual with proven experience of completing tasks to agreed SLAs. The Application LifeCycle engineer will be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation.
Experience should include: (4+ years experience)
- Experience of working within an ITIL aligned Service Delivery organisation
- Experience with Windows Server Technologies (2012 R2, 2016)
- Excellent Application (Client & Server) troubleshooting skills
- Good Windows 7 and 10 service, file and registry knowledge and an understanding of Windows based applications
- Familiarity with software controls including dongles, key codes and licence servers

Some knowledge of scripting in a recognised Microsoft developer language

To have an awareness of working in a locked down environment and Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy and Administration
