SNC-Lavalin is going through an exciting period of change. A Canadian listed engineering and construction firm, on July 2017 they acquired the UK engineering consultancy Atkins bringing with it a great opportunity to re-position the SNC-Lavalin brand in the eyes of our markets and ahead of our competitors. The role of Apprentice Advisor will support the Careers team.  The Careers team delivers the Graduate Development Programme (GDP), Professional Apprentice Programme (PA), co-ordinates several professional development schemes including the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) training scheme and the assessment of professional competence (APC) scheme for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and has overall responsibility for Careers across UK & Europe within SNC Lavalin. 

Your role will include:

  • Dealing with any related issues and complaints from apprentices and line managers, including AskHR referrals and escalating where appropriate;
  • Maintenance of HR guidance, collaboration sites and databases;
  • Supporting other L&D programmes and projects as required.
  • Work in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations
  • Support APA Lead with operational delivery of the APA programme:
    • Prepare annual recruitment data
    • Managing relationships with the colleges and providers, including travel to providers across the country
    • Organising the APA programme events; booking and logistics of induction
    • Being a first point of contact for the colleges and apprentices’ line managers  regarding the APA programme, attendance etc
    • Prepare training agreements, obtain all necessary approval signatures, issue and file
    • Manage apprentice data on the master tracker to include checking providers, eligibility, chasing of apprenticeship documents and external submissions of data for compliance purposes

  • Ensuring all safety accidents/incidents are reported in the correct laid out procedure and corrective action is taken where necessary.

  • Comply fully with SNC-Lavalin’s drugs and alcohol policy.

KEY KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of SNC Lavalin business structure and in-business apprentice schemes
  • Passionate about Apprentice development – external landscape and internal processes
  • Professional development schemes
  • Relevant HR processes
  • Knowledge of apprenticeships within the devolved administrations (Scotland, Northern Ireland & Wales) – Highly desirable

  • Proven track record in effective task organisation and prioritisation, with excellent attention to detail and able to work with and manipulate large amounts of data

  • Strong IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, as well as collaboration tools e.g. Sharepoint and databases
