We are part of a consortium including Atkins and Egis Road Operations UK – creating Connect Plus Services, a unique partnership with a collective strength in highways asset care from finance, through to design, build, maintenance as well as day to day operation.

As part of our 30-year remit to manage and improve the capital’s orbital motorway network, we deliver major improvement projects, such widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries, helping to maximise the use of the network and deliver more reliable journeys. We also manage the Dartford River crossing, and operate and maintain 440 kilometres of motorway providing our customer and road user with a world-class highway service.

We are currently looking for a  Arboriculture and Soft Estate Inspector to join the team at our Leatherhead or South Mimms offices.




Main purpose of the job:


Management of trees / woodlands and the soft estate element of the Environmental Asset in general, that meets all safety, performance, contractual and legal requirements, while taking account of industry best practice, and including liaison with the Maintenance Team to ensure delivery of works prescribed in the M25 DBFO Landscape Management Plan.


Key responsibilities / duties:


·   Safety inspections of individual trees and woodland on both M25 DBFO operational and off-site land

·   Condition inspections and performance requirement inspections of the Soft Estate

·   Work schedule preparation and raising work orders for the Maintenance Teams and Sub-contractors

·   Assist in the preparation and delivery of the Asset Management Forward Plan (AMFP)

·   Database management of inspection information to comply with contractual obligations

·   Landscape surveys and site inspections in relation to schemes

·    Report preparation in relation to Arboriculture and Landscape Management

·   Third party liaison relating to trees and other soft estate related issues

·   Advisory services for tree and other soft estate related issues

·  Technical audits on works organised by the Maintenance Team and report on the findings

·  Review / update of the Landscape Management Plan

·  Environmental Impact Assessment reports as required

·  Environment Team tasks as required

 

Working arrangements (shift work, need for travel etc)


·         To be based in either South Mimms or Leatherhead CPS office with significant travel around the M25 network


Qualifications/ skills/ experience:

  • Proven tree / landscape inspection and management skills together with a knowledge of tree / landscape management techniques including industry best practice.
  • Holder of a current LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection award.
  • Minimum National Qualification Network Level 3-4 in relation to Arboricultural  and Landscape Management qualifications
  • Membership of the Arboricultural Association, Landscape Institute, Royal Forestry Society, or International Society of Arboriculture
  • Other Professional and Environmental Qualifications to support contract requirements an advantage
  • Holder of a current Site Managers CSCS card for appropriate NHSS 18 discipline.
  • Previous experience of using an electronic asset management collection device desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence
