Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Denver, CO, Cultural Resources Group as an Archaeologist (Temporary Assignment Employee).

Under minimal direction, applies full competency in cultural resource management (Class I-III, monitoring, reporting, NRHP eligibility etc). Ability to coordinate with SHPO and other consulting parties to a favorable Section 106 resolution. Successfully integrate cultural resources schedule into the bigger picture (NEPA, construction management)


JOB DUTIES

Duties which may require mastery of specialized techniques, ingenuity, and ability to apply analytical approach to the solution of a wide variety of problems, generally includes the following:

Conducts studies and advanced analytical procedures.

Produces analytical results and prepares technical reports and documents.

Recommends solutions to problems.

Monitors compliance with contract requirements and governmental agency regulations.

May assist in the management of projects.

Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.




EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.A./B.S. or M.S. in Anthropology or related field. This level may be achieved by Scientists with minimum five years experience since Bachelor's degree or four years experience with Master's degree; typical incumbent has six to seven years' experience.

Preference given to applicants who have, or can acquire Principal Investigator permits from the State and/or BLM.


SPECIAL SKILLS

Good analytical skills and attention to detail, technical writing, Section 106 rules and regulations, and state requirements in states surrounding Colorado.

Familiarity with historic architecture and Traditional Cultural Properties are a plus.

Ability to attract new work also a plus.

May be eligible for project management training.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

Permit as Principal Investigator on State and Federal lands preferred.

Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; ability to visit project sites if necessary. Job also requires ability to assemble and analyze data.
