Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our San Diego, CA EcoSciences West Team as a Field Technician.
Participate in archaeological surveys, participate in excavations, and documentation of field findings.
Generally applies standard archaeological excavation techniques in carrying out a sequence of specified technical tasks in cultural resources projects of minor to medium complexity.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or closely related field, Master's degree preferred. Minimum one year experience in specialty area required by position.
Archaeology Field School may be required, plus one year of CRM experience. Knowledge of FERC requirements, NEPA process, and applicable state and Federal requirements preferred.
Familiarity with Section 106, NEPA, NHPA, FERC, Army Corps permitting, and relevant state regulations. Knowledge of archaeological survey, excavation and laboratory methods, and SCUBA diving techniques (nautical archeology
projects only), as required by project.
Ability to examine and evaluate the condition of artifacts, describe facts and events accurately.
Ability to prepare reports and communicate technical information effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
