Atkins’ Transportation is our centre of excellence for the design of highway and rail infrastructure projects. We aim to be the first choice designer for local and national highway authorities, Network Rail, contractors and developers. We are working on a number of high profile projects and frameworks nationwide, including Cambridge to Huntingdon A14 upgrade and Smart Motorways programme through the Collaborative Delivery Framework for Highways England, Cross Rail, Great Western Electrification Programme, HS2 and related projects.

The Future Signalling Systems Asset Management Client Support Engineer will develop and implement processes for Client Support Asset Management (CSAM) for Future Signalling Systems within the Transportation Business. The role will ensure that appropriate processes are developed and put in place for each Product and System and that the processes are embedded in Atkins’ client and supplier organisations as required.

Key Accountabilities
• Accountable to ASM Asset Manager for ensuring the consistent application of the corporate CSAM strategy and standards across area(s) of responsibility
• Ensure that all appropriate programme deliverables, documents and configuration items are identified and captured within the Future Signalling Systems Practice
• Work with key supplier and client interfaces to ensure configuration management is applied appropriately across assets in the field

Key Responsibilities
• Develop the Atkins Signalling Method Asset Management Manual
• Development and maintenance of the Future Signalling Systems Client Support Asset Management Control System within area(s) of responsibility
• Development of a programme/project Configuration Management Plan (CMP)
• Development of a programme/project Asset Management Plan (AMP)
• Ensure product and system configuration management processes for the design, build, test and commissioning phase of work are developed and implemented within all required businesses
• Develop a database of configuration of field assets in conjunction with suppliers and the client

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Knowledge and working experience of Atkins’ products, structure, processes, cultures and values
• Knowledge of Asset Management principles and practices
• Knowledge of configuration management principles and processes

• Effective interpersonal skills with respect to providing mentorship to technical staff
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels with good written and oral skills
• Anticipates and resolves problems using a range of approaches, tools and techniques to develop innovative solutions
• Capable of managing multiple concurrent tasks, whilst maintaining effective judgment in prioritizing and time allocation
• Adept at diligently following effective working practices with respect to configuration management
• Ability to understand internal and external customers’ needs and expectations, provides excellent service in direct and indirect manner and fulfil customer expectations

• Experience at a practical level of developing and applying process tools and techniques associated with delivering a fully functioning Asset and Configuration Management System
• Experience of working with new technology deployments
• Knowledge of the Future Signalling Systems service offer, including the ElectroLogIXS product and platform, Newgate Barriers, Digital Barriers and other components that may be developed
• Experience of development of systems utilising configurable line replaceable units
• Experience of development of systems requiring asset and configuration management across hardware, firmware and software

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
