Responsibilities may include:

Support the development of Asset Management evidence and associated documentation in accordance with relevant policies, Standards, for UK platforms, systems and associated equipment predominately across Aerospace and Defence and wider markets in domain all aspects of optimised asset management, including:

• Generating supportability information as an input to bid proposals/tender response;
• Establishing system supportability strategies and user/system requirements;
• Developing and maintaining supportability plans;
• Undertaking supportability, Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) analysis;
• Influencing equipment design for supportability;
• Obsolescence Management;
• Authoring supportability reports;
• Generating presentations and presenting to clients;
• Developing and providing inputs to the supportability case.


HNC/HND/Degree level in an engineering discipline or demonstrable relevant practical and theoretical engineering experience.

Essential Criteria

• Existing SC level security clearance or successfully obtain SC level security clearance;
• A good understanding of ILS/Supportability and R&M principles;
• Understanding of the application of supportability within the Defence Sector;
• IT Literate, good MS Excel/MS Word based skills;
• Precise data handling, interpretation and manipulation skills;
• Good communication skills (written, verbal, presentation);
• Willingness to learn and able to diversify across multiple projects;
• Willingness to travel and work away from the home Atkins office.


• MOD ILS Licence, working towards the MOD ILS Licence or equivalent;
• Mil Stan 1388, Def Stan 00-60/00-600, JSP886 experience;
• ISO 55000 or PAS 55 experience;
• Have an interest in supportability matters through membership of associated societies, production of supportability related articles/papers;
• Broad engineering domain knowledge;
• Previous consultancy, major contractor or Armed Services experience.

The candidate should have knowledge and awareness of their discipline and related disciplines and their developments across varied markets, ideally across the Aerospace, Defence and wider market. Candidates should be working towards an engineering Chartership or equivalent professional accreditation.

Previous asset management experience, in defence or other high hazard industries is highly desirable, but not essential.

Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
