EDPM is the Engineering, Design & Project Management sector of SNC-Lavalin. We plan, design and enable the delivery of complex projects and major programmes across transportation, energy and infrastructure. Primarily made up of Atkins, including Faithful+Gould, we push boundaries and create value as trusted advisors to our clients and partners.

SNCL Atkins currently have an opportunity for Assistant Accountant - Financial Accounting in Worcester.

This position is part of the SSF Financial Accounting team. The role involves the provision of support to the SSF Financial Controller. The main activities concern preparation of SNC trade debtor returns, performing trade debtor and creditor checks, raising internal invoices and reconciling the quarterly inter-company return.

Job Summary:

The main activities concern preparation of SNC trade debtor returns, performing trade debtor and creditor checks, raising internal invoices and reconciling the quarterly inter-company return.

Responsible to:  SSF Financial Controller

Key Relationships:

Internal - the SSF Financial Accounting Department; Department Managers; other departments within the SSF; the broader Atkins Finance community ( including overseas FC).

External – occasionally Atkins suppliers & customers.

Job Description:

  • Preparation of Atkins internal Project Summary Report (PSR) data for submission to SNC-Lavalin
  • Review and confirm SNC-Lavalin internal trade balances with Atkins
  • Invoicing internal Atkins costs to non-JDE companies
  • Review and enter exchange rates and project rates into JDE
  • Review intercompany accounts, post correction journals and liaise with overseas to correct entries
  • Reconcile Atkins non-JDE supplier statements monthly
  • Assist with the quarterly inter-company reconciliation process and feedback to Group companies (over 80 overseas entities).  
  • Assistance with the preparation of annual corporation tax packs for four statutory companies
  • Assist with the control self assessment programme
  • Provide holiday cover for the auto-trading process
  • Preparation of information for the National Statistics Office as requested
  • Adhoc projects and tasks

Person Specification:

Technical and Professional Experience

Essential

  • Part-Qualified in a recognised professional accountancy qualification
  • The candidate must have an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including use and set-up of Pivot tables and formulas.
  • Experience of an accounting software package

Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of JD Edwards accounting software
