Assistant Accountant

This position is within the SSF Accounting Department. The main activities cover the reconciliation of agency control accounts, audit and correction of employee mileage claims, posting of non-sales cash journals, administration and recovery of parking fines and reconciliation of general ledger data.

Responsible to: Financial Controller

Key Relationships: Internal – other departments within the SSF; the broader Finance community, Line management & all Atkins employees.
External – Atkins suppliers

Please note: The position is available for 27.5 hours - 37.5 hours a week. So part time or full time staff will be considered. This is a fixed term maternity cover post expected to be required until March 2018.

Responsibilities

• Resolution of outstanding balances on the agency control accounts to ensure balances are current and reasonable.
• Daily allocation of manual entries to agency control accounts
• Daily posting of non-sales cash sheet journals for a two week period each month.
• Administration and recovery of parking fines and resulting administration fees from employees.
• Creation of general ledger working reports for tax team.
• Reconciliation of GL data reports to JDE
• Quarterly audit and correction of mileage claims to ensure payments are correct and no P11D benefit is generated.
• Ad hoc projects/tasks.

Technical and Professional Experience

Essential
• The candidate should be studying for the AAT or qualified by experience.
• The candidate must have a good knowledge of computer systems, including a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Desirable
• The candidate should ideally be AAT qualified
• Knowledge of JD Edwards
• The candidate should demonstrate strong reconciliation skills
• The candidate should have experience of working in a financial/management accounting environment
