This position is within the SSF Financial Accounting Department. The role involves the provision of support to the SSF Financial Controller. The main activities cover the reconciliation of payroll information posted via an electronic interface. Reconciliation of payroll balance sheet accounts to the information provided by payroll and ensuring third party payments are made in an accurate and timely way. Provide assistance in the budget & forecasting process for payroll accounts. Reconciliation of Agency Control Accounts.

Responsible to: Financial Controller

Key Relationships: Internal – other members of the Financial Accounting Department; other departments within the SSF; the broader Finance community, HR Department, Pensions Department and the Payroll department.
External – pensions providers and Payroll Consultants.


• Reconciliation of payroll information posted via an electronic interface.
• Ensuring that third party payments are made in an accurate and timely way.
• General ledger reconciliations.
• Journal preparation.
• Analysis of bonus and pension payments.
• Provision of data for quarterly SCR reconciliations.
• Assist Financial Controller with budget & forecasting.
• Operation of leavers procedure and monitoring of staff indebtedness to the Company.
• Reconciliation of Agency Control Accounts.
• Ad hoc projects/tasks.


• Studying for the AAT or qualified by experience.
• Must have a good knowledge of computer systems, including a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

• The candidate should ideally be AAT qualified.
• Knowledge of JD Edwards.
• Payroll experience.
• Experience of working in a financial/management accounting environment
