Responsibilities

Technical
• Working within a multi-discipline team of engineers, technicians and other professionals to develop bridge engineering designs from concept to detailed design and specifications
• Responsible for completion of specifically assigned tasks to time and budget
• Ensuring compliance with standards set in the company’s QSE Procedures
Stakeholder
• Liaising with customers in a responsive and client focused manner
• Liaison with Clients and attendance at client meetings
• Preparation of progress and technical reports for project managers
People
• Co-ordinating work with other team members and disciplines


Requirements – Essential

Technical
• Appropriate academic and professional qualifications
• The successful candidate will have some experience of structural analysis and preferably assessment and design using Eurocodes and Network Rail and/or Highways codes.
• A good understanding of structural behaviour is essential, together with a strong passion for solving structural problems.
• The candidate needs to be a team player, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability. Diligence and attention to detail are key attributes.
• Experience of design interfaces with other engineering disciplines
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office software particularly MS Excel and Word
• Ability to prepare reports and collate specifications from all parties to the project and to collect other data and statistics necessary for the preparation of progress and technical reports
• Ability to research information and data independently
• Clear and proven analytical skills with practical application

Requirements - Desirable
• Flexibility for occasional periods working away from normal office location
• Experience of design interfaces e.g., geotechnical, environmental, highways, transport planning etc
• Familiarity with 3D design tools and ability to carry out 3D modelling

• Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills both verbally and in writing
• A hard working and flexible individual as a team player, who has great attention to detail, is reliable, shows initiative and is proactive and is able to keep cool under pressure and deadlines
• Must be able to gather and analyse information skilfully in a timely manner
• Confident and professional manner
• Be well organised with good time management skills. Works to personally set deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Good ability to prioritise own work and maintain a focus on agreed targets
• Good ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• A supportive and encouraging approach to mentoring less experienced members of the team
• Ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build rapport with colleagues and clients
• Be available to travel across the UK and work away from home, including periods overseas if necessary

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
