Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Tampa, FL Finance and Accounting Group as an Assistant Controller.


Responsible for supervision of various general accounting and financial reporting functions to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial information and related reports, compliance with company policies and governmental requirements, and furtherance of the company's financial goals. Provides major input into both the external and the internal SSA audit functions associated with the company.


  • Oversees preparation of annual external financial statements and year-end audit as well as quarterly reviews with external auditors.
  • Manages the monthly accounting close and consolidation. Supervises Fixed Asset functions, Real Estate Accounting, Compensation Accounting areas, Joint Venture related accounting, Internal Controls (CSA), and financial reporting functions. Oversees all general ledger accounting.
  • Supports acquisition accounting and due diligence as required.
  • Performs research to maintain compliance with IFRS and GAAP accounting standards.
  • Assists with quarterly forecast and annual budget development and associated reporting internally and to parent company with primary responsibility for Balance Sheet and Cash Flow components.
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly financial reporting and analysis to internal management.
  • Performs annual goodwill impairment analysis.
  • Directs monthly accounting close/consolidation, overseeing Oracle processes and systems, as well as HFM/Hyperion transfer of information to support parent company reporting/consolidation
  • Evaluates employee performance, and conducts timely performance/career development reviews and personnel actions for staff.
  • Performs other such duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; Master's Degree in Accounting preferred. Ten to fifteen years of diversified accounting experience, including public accounting and supervisory experience. Exposure to professional services industry desirable.




  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, strong analytical and detail orientation, and good interpersonal skills. Ability to use PC and calculator. Proficient in Excel and Word.




  • CPA required.
