Our Energy business has been operating for over four decades and you will be helping us to design and deliver complex new schemes, assure the longevity and integrity of existing infrastructure and deliver innovative consultancy advice to core clients, critical to the success of the global energy market. As part of that you will be based primarily in our nuclear business who are leading the renaissance in nuclear power. We have operations based in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and North America, and are fully engaged on the development of the next generation of nuclear power stations. Alongside our new build expertise, we maintain existing nuclear fleet and decommission those coming to the end of their life. As a result of continued growth and to support our change in approach to delivering our projects within the nuclear business, we are looking to recruit Engineers to join our team in West Cumbria, on the edge of the Lake District National Park, to provide digital design, engineering and immersive media support for a variety of projects and for a variety of clients across our technical delivery departments. Within our departments we offer a full design to implementation capability across some challenging projects not only in the nuclear industry but also the wider energy sectors such as in renewables, oil and gas and conventional power. From our office, which includes most major disciplines, you will be involved in developing innovative applications, immersive media and practical solutions for our clients across the UK and further afield.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

• Provide design, engineering and immersive media support on work carried out by our technical departments.

• Deliver design, engineering and immersive media solutions including preparation of 3D models, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications, bespoke ‘apps’ and media.

• Deliver design, engineering and immersive media solutions throughout the full project lifecycle including bidding and post project handover.

• Detail checking work of others.

• Ensure that projects are delivered to time and quality.

• Work with clients to capture requirements and liaise on technical and general project aspects.

• Work with colleagues across the Atkins group to develop proposals for new work.

Requirements

Essential

• Qualification in Immersive Media or related qualification

• Posses a good understanding of C# and C++ programming languages as well as familiarisation with other languages such as HTML5

• Possess an understanding of engineering principles

• Experience in delivering solutions to technical problems

• Experience in gaming engine use and development in particular Unity

• Experience in the generation and development of 3D models

• Experience in Immersive Media creation in particular VR and AR applications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Willingness to learn and adapt.

Desirable

• Advanced Engineering qualification

• Familiar with Autodesk Products

• Experience in 3D Computer Aided Engineering

Additional Information

• Travel to other company sites may be necessary.

• Successful candidates will be required to undergo a security vetting process and offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
