Purpose of the Role


The Assistant Financial Controller for ADS&T will be a dynamic and fast paced role, responsible for the management and preparation of financial management information. Preparing accounts, budgets & forecasts along with associated reporting. The role is based in Bristol and reports in to the Central Practice Finance Controller.



Responsibilities

 
• Management of monthly management accounts
• Run the budget and forecasting process including commentary & reporting
• Analyse variances to month end, budgets & forecast working closely with the Financial Controller to understand, explain and anticipate financial performance
• Typical duties: Produce pre month end flash reports, provide full month end analysis, complete balance sheet reconciliations, balance sheet strengths, overhead analysis, produce monthly reports and commentary to various stakeholders to explain the accounts.
• Strategic duties: Complex reporting to the Senior Leadership Team covering strategic objectives, utilising HFM and bespoke modelling
• Annually / quarterly duties: Assist with PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) returns, Supplementary statutory analysis, Controlled Self Assessment, internal audit and year end
• Ad hoc projects and support to the financial controller
• The role will require travel, mainly within the UK

Qualifications

 
• Qualified or nearly qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA

Skills and Experience


• Strong professional experience in general financial and accountancy EG– management accountants, budgeting and forecasting.
• IT literate, with strong excel skills (to advance level including pivot tables, look-ups and macros)
• Some knowledge of Atkins’ finance processes, standards and systems
• Analytical with an enquiring mind
• Strong modelling skills
• Able to work self-manage to demanding deadlines
• Proactive approach – able to work autonomously and use own initiative
• Commercially aware
• Good communications and interpersonal skills
• Produce high standard reporting under time pressure
• Management, coaching and development of staff

Training


Atkins develops individuals through a portfolio of training and development activities designed to help you make the best of your abilities and talents. These are reviewed with individuals through an annual Performance Development Review process. We actively support staff in achieving corporate membership of relevant institutions.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
