Assistant Project Manager

Due to continued growth, the Property Sector is looking to recruit an Assistant Project Manager to be based in Dubai to work on a number of projects in the UAE.

The Project Lead Support provides support as directed by the Project Leader and Director in Charge.




Core Accountabilities

  • Fully accountable to the Director in Charge and Project Leader
  • Accountable for tasks and requirements as directed by the Director in Charge and Project Leader


  • Supporting the Atkins BMS and Governance Framework as directed by Director in Charge and Project Leader

Project Planning

  • Assist in project planning workshops
  • Assist in preparing the OBS and WBS
  • Work with Deliver Work to develop a P6 schedule that aligns with contractual requirements

Project Initiation

  • Provide support in the production of the Project Management Plan (PMP) and any other relevant plans
  • Support deliver teams in the production of the project management toolkit
  • Support the PM team during the preparation of the project kick off meeting
  • Providing support to creating the 7 project baseline elements:
  • Prime Contract
  • Scope
  • Project Management Plan
  • Estimate Cost Control
  • Management Level Schedule
  • Risk and Opportunity Assessment
  • Pricing Model

Project Execution

  • Providing support to the Director in Charge and Project Leader
  • Supporting the coordination of inputs into the project management tool kit
  • Providing support where applicable to the creation of client correspondence
  • Support to timesheet bookings and allocations

Risks, Issues & Assumptions Management

  • Participating in Risk Reviews
  • Maintain the project risk and issues register
  • Document mitigation plans
  • Implement mitigation plans

Change Management

  • Participating in the Impact Assessment of Change Requests
  • Assist in the production of variation and EoT claims
  • Maintenance of delay register
  • Maintenance of project change register
  • Support with gathering evidence for variation and EoT claims

Cost Control

  • Monitor time allocations and escalate any issues to the Project Leader
  • Participate in cost reviews
  • Support as directed by Director in Charge and Project Leader


  • Support as directed by Director in Charge and Project Leader


  • Support as directed by Director in Charge and Project Leader

Monitoring & Controlling

  • Provide support and information required to complete project management tool kit
  • Regular reviews of project costs, schedule, risks and issues


  • Support in gathering the relevant data and inputs in accordance with project reporting requirements

Project Closing

  • Provide inputs and support to drafting of project closure report
  • Support Stage Gate 4 process
  • Participate in Lessons Learned workshop

Technical Competencies / Qualifications / Experience



  • Degree qualified in an engineering or architectural discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of post graduate professional experience
  • Knowledge and experience of design process is mandatory
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Ability to liaise with a wide variety of staff and Clients at all levels essential
  • Computer literate in the essential M’Soft software, ie Word, Excel
  • Able to prepare competent technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality
  • Able to manage the drafting of successful responses to bids within their area of expertise
  • Able to estimate pricing/timing associated with projects
  • Clear knowledge of work procedures, and ability to communicate those to others
  • An effective team member able to apply knowledge gained
  • Flexible and enthusiastic and able to make sound judgements
  • Able to discuss in detail with clients the local business (Divisional) technologies and markets
  • Appreciation of the commercial aspects of project management
  • Self motivated and able to work as part of a team and under own initiative


  • Administrative skills
  • 2 years work experience within the Middle East
  • Proven project management skills having had responsibility for completion of projects to time and cost
  • Good leadership qualities and gains respect from colleagues
