Due to continued growth, we currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our established team in Stoke.

 

This role has excellent prospects for an individual who has a strong ambition to progress their career within the Cost Management field and who enjoys working collaboratively within a team and with clients. As well as technical competence having had some experience working in a junior QS position, we are looking for someone with the ability to think laterally, who possesses strong communication skills, has commercial awareness and who will provide a first class service to our clients.
 
Our Stoke QS Team is currently made up of 12, and is  going from strength and strength, with a diverse pipeline of projects across both the public and private sectors. We now need another junior surveyor to join our team to support us in delivering this work to our clients.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for smaller commissions/projects or assistance; on major commissions/projects with defined levels of accountability;
  • Preparing bills of quantities/schedules of works;
  • Assisting the client in delivering projects to time and budget;
  • Creation of estimates for projects and contributing to the risk profiling of the project;
  • Working within a team of professionals delivering cost planning and cost reporting in line with the project programme;
  • Some responsibility for the liaison with key client and their multiple stakeholders, continually developing client relationships;
  • Attending site and undertaking interim valuations;
  • Assisting in the assessment of final accounts;
  • Provide assistance with producing high quality reports;
  • Participation in relevant internal and external training initiatives;
  • Assisting with preparation of bid documentation;
  • Being a good ambassador for Faithful+Gould and your profession, and have an up-to-date and developing knowledge of legal and technical matters relevant to the quantity surveying profession;
  • Applying the principles of quality assurance and environmental management in compliance with the organisation's Policies, and developing your understanding of the organisation's Policy and
    arrangements for managing your own personal safety while at work;
  • Awareness of the professional and commercial implications of your work;
  • Contributing towards project governance and fee management activities; Building on your understanding of Faithful+Gould's and Atkins' service offering and promoting the benefits these bring to clients;


Requirements:

  • You will either have, or are progressing towards the attainment of chartered status (the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors);
  • Qualified to degree level in Quantity Surveying or equivalent by experience;
  • Good team working skills and ability to communicate well at all levels;
  • A full driving licence and prepared to travel as required;
  • Good IT skills, Word and Excel as a minimum. Knowledge of CAD and/or BIM measurement systems and CATO would be an advantage;
  • Knowledge and experience of standard methods of measurement, particularly NRM2;
  • Ability to present well with good literacy and numeracy skills;
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements, but relevant training will be provided as part of the induction process;
  • A courteous manner with a high level of professionalism
