Due to Faithful+Gould’s continuing success in delivering commercial and cost management services to high profile clients, we are expanding our headcount. Our Exeter office is now seeking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor to join their team to support a diverse range of projects across the South West.
 
By the very nature of the size of the projects you will be expected to perform pre and post contract services for the client and form part of a team approach to project delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • We are seeking a motivated individual to:
  • Provide pre and post contract quantity surveying services for major clients
  • Work principally as part of the commercial services team, but also supporting the project management and building surveying teams as and when required.
  • Plan, organise and control workload under supervision
  • Provide a professional interface with other disciplines and the client's representative
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of service delivery to clients
  • Provide full efficient and effective services in all technical and contractual aspects of professional practice


To join us you’ll need:

  • Working towards RICS membership or recently chartered
  • Conversant in all aspects of quantity surveying
  • Ability to prepare estimates under supervision,
  • Ability to analyse and interpret commercial and technical project documentation
  • Understanding of standard forms of contract, including NEC and JCT
  • General understanding of the Infrastructure Sector and Construction methodology generally
  • Good IT skills
  • Strong communication skills and good stakeholder management ability
  • Knowledge and understanding of the component parts of a project and overall construction costs
  • Flexibility on being office or from time-to-time site based
  • An interest in Mechanical and Electrical estimating and cost management, and a willingness to potentially specialise in this field
  • You will be flexible and adaptable and be willing to support colleagues from other disciplines such as Project Management and Building Surveying, and thus broaden your experience
Further skills and experience required:
  • Experience with benchmarking analysis with a drive to seek and suggest innovative approaches to project delivery
  • Ability to contribute to the preparation, monitoring and forecasting budgets during design, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning phases of a project
  • Ability to contribute to financial and commercial reports
  • Effective and efficient commercial administration of projects
  • Experience in utilising software systems e.g. CATO, BIM Measure
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
