Assistant Systems Tester

The Rail Engineering Projects Testing and Commissioning Team is an exciting and growing team, eager to grasp modern systems, processes and concepts, within the regulatory framework that we are required to work.
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join us and carry out Assistant Systems Testing on projects of all types, sizes and complexities.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to use initiative whilst working within a highly regulated environment.
Do you have excellent organisation skills and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels? Do you have experience, knowledge and understanding of assisting testing of electronic signalling systems equipment?

Reporting to the Testing and Commissioning Engineer (Systems), the work is primarily site based on projects and as such there may be a requirement to lodge away for extended periods of time and to work unsocial hours. You must hold a full UK driving Licence.

• Willingness to learn or experience in Railway Electronic Signalling Systems Testing and / or Signalling Testing.
• Understanding of IP networks
• Ability to undertake or work towards NWR Mod 5 or 3C.
• Willingness to learn or knowledge of Network Rail Signal Works Testing Handbook
• Good personnel management and good communication skills
• Able to work under pressure during commissionings etc
• Current Driving Licence
• Personal Track Safety
• Planning and logistics skills
• Willing to work flexibly, efficiently and unsocial hours in support of the group commitments.

• Assist Electronic Signalling Systems testers on Signalling Projects.
• Liaise and assist other test teams as required.
• Ensure adherence to the Atkins rail standards, procedures, processes covering all engineering, safety, administrative and project requirements.
• Co-operated with quality, safety, and environmental objectives and contribute where appropriate, to Atkins rail commitment for continual improvement.
• Assist in undertake the testing and commissioning of Electronic Signalling equipment to meet contract specifications, performance and safety parameters.
• Report progress to the Systems Tester / TIC as required.
• Co-operate with performance appraisals, attend training courses, maintain IRSE logbook to an acceptable standard
• Progress individual knowledge and skills to promote advancement.
