The Rail Engineering Projects Testing and Commissioning Team is an exciting and growing team, eager to grasp modern systems, processes and concepts, within the regulatory framework that we are required to work.
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join us and lead the principles testing of projects of all types, sizes and complexities.
You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to use initiative whilst working within a highly regulated environment.

Do you have excellent organisation skills and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels? Do you have experience, knowledge and understanding of signalling principles and how to test for compliance with them on a variety of interlocking?

Reporting to the Testing and Commissioning Engineer (Principles), this role is based on actively assisting the Principles tester when carrying out DWS testing as well as specific tests throughout a commissioning period; as such the work is split between a fixed office base and site based on projects and as such there may be a requirement to lodge away for extended periods of time and to work unsocial hours. You must hold a full UK driving Licence.

Requirements
• Experience in Railway Signalling Testing in the form of 3C testing and an understanding of the requirements for functional testing (both conventional and SSI)
• A broad understanding and awareness of signalling principles (GK/RT)
• A broad understanding and awareness of Network Rail Signal Works Testing Handbook in particular the verification and validation of interlocking.
• Able to work under pressure during intense periods of commissioning etc
• Able to Drive
• Willing to work Bank Holidays, Nights and weekends when required

Responsibilities
• Able to interpret control table entries to the tests being carried out by the Principles tester and mark up accordingly.
• Carry out initial tests for DWS testing as instructed by the Principles tester and record these on the printout’s of the identity files.
• Able to perform DWS printout’s for CBI interlocking as and when required.
• Able to load and compare interlocking files from issued discs onto the main server
• Able to printout Difference lists from issued discs as compared to previous loaded server files.
• Carry out final correspondence tests from a panel/VDU system for signals, points and tracks. Note: This does not include full electrical tests.
• Able to utilise a technician’s terminal for system interrogation and telegram interpretation.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
