Atkins Architects are looking for an inspirational work winner to help deliver its ambitious targets we have within the schools market in London and the South-East region. Atkins are already very successful in this market but we are looking to significantly grow our market presence in region over the next 2-3 years. This role would be key to this success.

We are looking for someone to:
• Be client centric
• Be a leader of bids and opportunities in this market
• Establish, maintain and develop relationships with key clients and prospective clients
• Be engaged with the successful delivery of secured projects

Atkins Architects is a national practice of over 400 Professional employees. We operate from 12 regional offices in the UK and have a wide variety of skills such as Architects, Building Surveyors, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, Urban Designers and Master planners.

We primarily focus on Education, Commercial & Residential and Rail station design within the London office where the role will be based and have a local team of over 100 employees.


We are looking for an enthusiastic new member to work with our existing team focusing primarily on this HE & FE market.

We are looking for someone to:
• Have a portfolio of clients or contacts in this market
• Proven track record of winning and developing new business opportunities
• Have a detailed understanding of the design and delivery of primary and secondary schools
• Have a willingness to develop contractor led standardised design solutions
• Have a need detailed knowledge of local authority procurement routes
• Be creative in their approach

Design Management
• To manage and inspire a team through strong and appropriate leadership
• To ensure design responses are pragmatic and respond to the client brief whilst respecting the opportunities and constraints that each site affords, through climate, context and culture.
• To continue to develop designs that are firmly rooted with a strong narrative and that seek to enhance our reputation

Business Management
• Lead projects by providing design and technical leadership for major projects
• Liaison with key clients and be capable of discussing design/technical solutions to stakeholders including technical and non-technical clients – both in projects and at tender stage
• Successful delivery of projects to a high level of quality and client satisfaction acting as Lead Consultant/Design Manager

Commercial Management
• Strategic vision of the market and industry and ability to focus our business to take full advantage of market conditions
• Detailed knowledge of our competitors, understand our market differentiators and help to shape them
• Experience in preparing bids and tendering.

People Leadership
• Proven team management skills and experience
• Development of the design culture and capability of our multi-disciplinary design team(s)
• An inclusive leader with a confident operating style who is able to deal with diversity within the teams that they manage
• A resourceful, articulate and clear communicator with the ability to influence others
• Be able to work calmly under pressure and lead, inspire and motivate our teams

 

Please note that we will relocate from our current London office in Euston Tower to the Nova North building in Victoria in the first quarter of 2019.


This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.  If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
