Due to new opportunities we are looking for architects to expand our national team. We have fascinating and challenging projects in Defence, Defence Aviation and other Government projects both in the UK and Internationally.
 
We are looking for candidates with experience in these fields who enjoy supporting clients in the achievement of their key projects, getting the best out of our multi-discipline design teams and working with wider stakeholders, involved in technically demanding projects.
 
You may have great experience and success in leading or contributing to bids, demonstrating good skills in writing, presentational and commercial skills. You will enjoy leading, organising and managing our architectural and multi-disciplinary project teams.


Responsibilities
 
Design Management
 
• To inspire teams through strong and appropriate leadership;
• Communicating the design to the client and other stakeholders;
• To ensure design responses are pragmatic and respond to the client brief whilst respecting the opportunities and constraints that each site affords, through climate, context and culture;
• Taking ownership of individual schemes and taking them through from inception to completion;
• Preparing quickly feasibility options for various projects and working with other disciplines to test the validity of designs;
• Preparing concept scheme designs from client briefs;
• Leading in the preparation of production information and working drawing packages.
 
Business Management
 
• To lead and support business development and work winning/bidding within the defence sector;
• Proven track record of winning and developing new business opportunities;
• Establish, maintain and develop relationships with key clients and prospective clients;
• Identifying opportunities and supporting the development of winning bids for projects in the education sector both single discipline and multi-disciplinary;
• The opportunity to work within our national business to win and deliver work and with these opportunities there will be a requirement for flexibility in respect of travel and location based on the demands of project work.
Commercial Management
• Strategic vision of the market and industry and ability to focus our business to take full advantage of market conditions;
• Detailed knowledge of our competitors, understand our market differentiators and help to shape them;
• Extensive experience in preparing bids and tendering;
 
People Leadership
 
• Proven team management skills and experience;
• Development of the design culture and capability of our multi-disciplinary design team(s);
• An inclusive leader with a confident operating style who is able to deal with diversity within the teams that they manage;
• A resourceful, articulate and clear communicator with the ability to influence others;
• Be able to work calmly under pressure and lead, inspire and motivate our teams.
 
Requirements
 
• Part III Qualified Architect;
• Proven team management skills and experience;
• Development of the design culture and capability of our multi-disciplinary design teams;
• An inclusive leader with a confident operating style who is able to deal with diversity within the teams that they manage;
• A resourceful, articulate and clear communicator with the ability to influence others;
• Be able to work calmly under pressure and lead, inspire and motivate our teams;
• Working knowledge of software’s including REVIT, AutoCAD Architecture, and SketchUp desirable.
 
Location
 
We have roles in our Bristol, Epsom or Warrington offices and you will be expected to travel within the region and nationally as required.
 
 
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
