Bid Manager - Epsom Bid Team

Our Epsom Bid Team produces creative and forward-thinking proposals.  We take pride in not only offering the best technical responses but presenting them in both an engaging and thoughtful manner.  

The Bid Manager (BM) will support the aviation, defence, energy, commercial and residential markets from our Epsom office.  The BM will be responsible for planning and managing the bid process in line with our brand and process. 

The BM will translate win strategies into smart, compelling, customer focussed, error free documents and presentations – project managing activity through bid plans and escalating risk to the bid lead where required. 

The BM will primarily work alongside multidisciplinary technical leads, bid directors, commercial and graphics – feeding into the Bid Team Lead.  

Responsibilities

  • Competitor analysis to develop win strategies
  • Creation and management of bid plans
  • Facilitate workshops and chair bid progress calls
  • Creation of storyboards and templates to support the strategy and assist authors, in line with bid questions and any scoring mechanisms
  • Manage the bid process by analysing tender documents to define client requirements and deliverables, assigning owners within the bid team and setting achievable deadlines
  • Manage bid programme, ascertaining interdependencies and identifying critical path
  • Chair bid kick off and progress meetings
  • Disseminating, communicating and storing clarifications to / from the client and facilitating the appropriate actions
  • Taking a proactive role in writing standard content and re-working CVs / case studies in line with bid requirements
  • Ensuring all reviews and adjudication are achieved in line with our internal governance
  • Ensuring proposals are fully compliant, quality checked and on time
  • Aftercare – chair lessons learnt / best practice workshop and saving useful boilerplate

Requirements / technical competencies

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Excellent command of the English language – experience of writing / editing in a professional and / or journalistic environment
  • Experience of converting technical solutions into a compelling “story”
  • Strong organisational / project management skills
  • Previous knowledge of CRM systems, with the ability to run reports
  • Proven IT skills Word, Excel and Sharepoint
  • Professional accreditation such as APMP

Desirable

  • Experience within an engineering practice or building contractor
