Atkins Building Structures division are looking to appoint a BIM Manager into our Midlands and South West team (based in Bristol). This role has been created as a result of growth within the overall Building Design practice and is a great opportunity for a BIM/CAD manager wanting to further develop their career within a forward-thinking organisation.
 
As BIM/CAD manager you will be working closely with engineers and technicians of all levels to be directly involved in a broad range of projects both minor and major, resourcing, staff mentoring and training and input to bidding.  You should be conscientious, able to act on your own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
 
The CAD/BIM manager will also be required to have experience in the preparation of civil and structural 3D models, model collaboration and writing/maintaining BIM Execution Plans. They will also be able to support the advancement of our capabilities in clash detection and 4D modelling.


Responsibilities
 
• Ensuring drawing delivery meets CAD/BIM standards, Digital Plan of Work and the requirements for the project BIM Execution plan
• Ensure that models meet BIM Level 2 standards and that the design team understands the level of information required to meet this
• Coordination with team leaders and CAD/BIM Managers from other offices and disciplines
• Collaborating with internal and external clients
• Monitoring and reporting of resource requirements across the project.
• Line management of technician staff (potential).
• Mentor and oversee the development of apprentice and less experienced staff
• Be proactive in self-development and development of technician team members
• Develop and deliver training in software and standard procedures
• Ability to ensure best practice using other software packages including Infraworks, Civil 3D, CADS RC, Grasshopper, Rhino or such like
• Support technician staff to ensure that they are provided with the information, software, hardware, training and technical support they require to ensure delivery of CAD data to project requirements
• Provide technical BIM advice to bids
• Support the UK BIM Technical Lead in implementing BIM within the Infrastructure division
 
Requirements
 
• Have validated experience in Revit or other software platforms.
• Have a good understanding of BIM and its direction within the industry.
• Experience of advanced level collaboration tools (Navisworks etc).
• Has worked as a BIM Coordinator/Lead in the development of coordinated models between disciplines and suppliers.
• Familiar with and able to implement a Common Data Environment and the latest wider industry AEC(UK) BIM/CAD protocols.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Able to write, implement and maintain BIM Execution Plans
• Ability to understand Employer Information Requirements and to implement these into the model templates.
• Experience with parametric modelling software (Dynamo or similar) is desirable but will not hinder suitable applicants.
• Conscientious, able to work without supervision and proactively manage time.
• Compliance with CAD/BIM standards and Quality Assurance procedures.
• Professional qualification (e.g. TIStructE or EngTech MICE), or desire to achieve within 12 months.
 

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
