Building Energy Management Systems Engineer - Epsom

Atkins Infrastructure division are looking to recruit a Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) Engineer to be based from our Epsom office.

 

As a BEMS Engineer you will enhance Atkin’s already established BEMS team, providing expert advice on appropriate control strategies for Building Services Systems and the application of Building Energy Management Systems.  They will play a key role in developing our in-house technical standards, details and specifications relating to automatic control systems.

 

Key Requirements:

 

• Technically competent outputs, consistently designed and delivered in accordance with agreed deadlines and budgets.

• Evidence of self-development, including progression towards full membership of a relevant professional organisation.

• Able to manage own workload, schedule and time keeping.

• Informal mentoring of less experienced team members as required

• Pro-actively managing own professional development within the framework provided by accredited training agreements.

• Prepared to travel throughout the UK for site visits and working at other Atkins offices.



Main Duties:

• Carry out consultation with internal engineers and external clients
• Develop in-house technical standards, details and specifications
• Provide advice on appropriate control strategies for Building Services Systems and application of Building Energy Management technologies
• Prepare design information and tender documentation including: BEMS network schematics, BEMS plant schematics showing field equipment locations, BEMS points lists and schedules, BEMS sequence of operation descriptions for performance and detailed specifications and BEMS materials and workmanship specifications
• Review BEMS related submissions and proposals
• Carry out on-site inspections of BEMS installations and witnessing of BEMS functionality
• Undertake surveys and investigations of the condition and operation of existing BEMS controls installations and prepare reports thereon
• Undertake BEMS controls efficiency surveys and prepare reports thereon
• Prepare and present regular internal BEMS training sessions


Key Requirements:

• A background in the BEMS controls industry gained within either a consultancy or contracting organisation
• A strong background in the application, design and commissioning of BEMS control systems
• Site experience and familiarity with the installation and testing requirements of BEMS control systems and associated control devices including communication networks, communication protocols, field wiring and field devices
• Practical experience of control system commissioning, tuning and trouble shooting
• A strong background in the operation, functionality and interrogation of BEMS supervisor servers and workstations, including graphics page management, dynamic graphics, alarm management and recorded data analysis
• A strong background in management level, device level and field level communications networks
