Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our Orlando, Florida team as a Business Analyst.

Apply analytical skills to business requests (which are often high-level or lacking in detail) and communicate these business wants/needs in a clear and unambiguous manner. A key part of this is ensuring these requests or requirements are consistent, clear, and concise.

The emphasis in the role is to understand the needs from the business perspective and translate them into a form that can be understood and acted on by the client or supporting software developers. This often takes the form of ability statements, smaller sub-requirements, functions, tasks, test plans, etc. The analysis may consist of several areas such as Business/Subject Knowledge, IT capabilities, financial and business feasibilities, costs, relevance, data, and dependencies across other business or project areas.

Participates in design specification reviews and technical documentation reviews and develops and reviews test plans, status reports, and process models. Works on research assignments at both the office and client site.


Job Duties:


Performs work which involves the application of industry best practices regarding business process analysis, quality management, and client interaction.

Conducts investigations, surveys, requirements gathering and definition, and technology reviews requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.

Carries out diverse projects or phases of a single project with a limited number of complex features.

Must be able to understand business concepts, and translate client needs into detailed business requirements.


Education and Experience:

B.S. degree in an engineering discipline, Computer Science, Economics, Business, Law, Information Technology or Communications with a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience preferred OR 14 years equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Some exposure to industry standards such as ASQ, APQC, ISO, Six Sigma, SEI, PMI, or IIBA.


Special Skills:

Good technical writing, analytical and communications skills essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project is required.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.

Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Outlook or equivalent e-mail program is desired as well as the use of Internet and other information processing and storage techniques to support research of alternatives and the definition of designs and concepts.

The candidate must have experience using SharePoint and administering SharePoint sites.
