Atkins Global Design Centre (GDC) Transportation Business is looking to appoint a number of Rail Structures BIM Designer to support the delivery of complex civil engineering and multidisciplinary designs across a range of major projects.

This key post will be based out of Bangalore or Gurgaon where we have thriving Atkins offices, which deliver to all Atkins regions across the world. Our portfolio of work continues to grow and we will offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity to apply knowledge, experience and problem solving skills.

As a Rail Structures BIM Designer, you will be a key part of the design delivery team and will be an experienced BIM user and coordinator with some management experience. Reporting to the Lead Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the project BIM design resources. This role offers excellent opportunities for career development for the right candidate. 



Responsibilities:

·       Produce intelligent 3D models and extract information directly from the model to form 2D drawings, schedules, setting out, quantities and other deliverables.

·       Manage the Rail structures discipline 3D models, review model quality and technical content including clash detection and compliance with the BEP.

·       Provide commercial input by pricing up BIM tasks for bids and projects as required.

·       Work with the Information Manager and project teams to assist in the development and implementation of BIM strategies, BIM Execution Plans, workflows and processes on projects in accordance with Atkins Corporate Standards, Client requirements and industry best practice.

·       Actively contribute to project design development by contributing to internal coordination, clash detection and design review sessions as well as external presentations to clients.

·       Manage the Structures Team Common Data Environment (CDE) of the project, and the distribution of coordinated digital documents to the project teams.

·       Undertake 4D BIM Project timeline modelling.

·       Provide quality control for compliance to company/project standards of deliverables.

·       Provide over the shoulder support for staff developing models and 2D drawing extractions.

·       Provide technical orientation of new hires regarding Atkins BIM process and workflows.

·       Maintain a high level of competency of all BIM software tools used at Atkins.

 

Requirements:

·       Must be from a Civil/Structural Engineering background with preferable Railway domain experience.

·       Experience of Bridge Detailing, reinforcement detailing, structural steel detailing and schedules.

·       Must be an advanced user or expert user in Bentley AECOsim, with a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ core AECOsim experience.

·       AECOsim experience must include detailed understanding and ability to setup project templates, co-ordinates, linking DGN plan, setting out, exporting from AECOsim and extracting deliverables – drawings, quantities, schedules.

·       AECOsim ability must also include creation, manipulation and modification of AECOsim elements with parametric capability and setting up of bespoke parameter and value fields.

·       Must be an advanced user or expert user in Bentley Navigator with capabilities to federate individual discipline BIM Models. Setup, maintain and run clash rules and clash tests across federated BIM Models. Must know how to create search sets, query, find and navigate through BIM Models. Must be able to generate clash results, redline BIM Models, capture viewpoints and cascade reports to discipline teams. Must be able to perform Bentley Navigator model management and 4D timelining capabilities are also desired.

·       Must be able to keep abreast of updates in BIM Platforms, advise management in this regard and possess the ability to upskill and working knowledge quickly on new or updated BIM platforms.

·       Track record in BIM design and coordination including multidisciplinary projects and ideally demonstrable experience within a Civil Engineering Design environment particularly the Highways domain.

·       Technical proficiency in the use of the latest common CDE systems: Bentley ProjectWise and CAB-i-NET.

·       Proven experience of a range of CAD and BIM industry standards including an understanding of UK BIM Level 2 requirements. Understanding of BIM Standards such as BS1192 and PAS1192 Part 2 is also desirable.

·       Technical awareness/knowledge of engineering design issues including awareness of health and safety risks.

·       Hands on experience of CAD tools such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.


Qualifications and attributes:

·       Excellent time management skills.

·       Experience of using written and spoken English within a business environment.

·       A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma holder in Civil Engineering with sufficient and relevant experience.

·      Constantly striving towards continuous improvement and innovation.

·       Flexible and engaging with resilience, drive and self-motivation

·       Ability to exercise initiative and take ownership of project issues

·       Ability to collaborate successfully within a project and team environment but also to work independently and in a client environment

·       Ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build rapport with customers

·       Highly IT literate, excellent command of standard office software, knowledge of IT infrastructure and hardware.
