Cash Allocation Assistant

 

Job Description

This new role is in the offshored team within the Finance Shared Services function of an international engineering & design consultancy company.  The shared services team will be co-located with several hundred fee-earning staff in a professional business environment.   

Key aspects of the role:

  • Responsible for the accurate allocation of daily cash receipts, both UK sterling and foreign currency.
  • Resolution of any allocation or processing queries
  • To match credit notes and process bad debt write offs.
  • To work closely with the Cash Collections team and reconcile accounts where necessary.
  • The role reports into the Cash Allocation & Customer Address Book Team Leader

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Batchelor’s degree.

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent English (spoken and written)
  • At least 3-4 years’ experience in Accounts Receivable
  • Familiar with processing financial transactions in a recognised accounting package
  • Excel intermediate level.  Must be able to complete spreadsheets and maintain data where required
  • Outlook intermediate level required in order to communicate with internal and external customers

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in allocating cash to invoices
  • Microsoft word (intermediate) to create reports

Responsibilities

  • Allocate daily bank cash receipts promptly and accurately.
  • Process other payment types such as cheques, credit cards and paypal.
  • Resolve any outstanding unallocated cash quickly & efficiently.
  • Match credit notes promptly and accurately.
  • Deal with any queries bought by Customers, internal and external.
  • Manage customer queues and correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Investigate mis allocation issues and resolve within tight deadlines.
  • Prioritise workload to ensure core activities are always achieved.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with all areas of the SSF, Atkins business and external customers

  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise workload. Excellent organisational skills to be able to multi task.
  • Be task focused and have excellent attention to detail to ensure all tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Team player – must work well in a small team to support all team members and ensure that all workload is completed.
