Civil & Structural Technician

Atkins Whitehaven Civil & Structural team covers design and management from inception to options appraisal through to detailed scheme design and delivery support. Atkins is seeking a candidate able to support delivery of engineering design using 3D software for civil, structural and multidisciplinary design projects.

Role Overview

• Reality capture/survey

• 3D Modelling and Design

• Model coordination on multi-discipline projects

• Drawing production

The candidate’s base office will be Westlakes in Cumbria location. This is a great opportunity for an experienced technician to work within an internationally renowned consultant. You should have the ability to make decisions, act on your own initiative and operate in a pro-active way. The role will be challenging and varied, providing great opportunities to learn new skills and for career development.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in the following key areas:

• General civil, structural & construction knowledge and experience

• An excellent working knowledge of Autodesk Revit with proven experience

• Complimentary experience of Autodesk AutoCAD would also be beneficial as would hands on use of Navisworks

• Experienced in production of technical drawings

• An interest, desire and willingness to learn new software packages and contribute to the current teams digital progression is essential.

• Engineering or technically based training

A good level of experience across all areas is desirable. It is understood that not every candidate may be able to demonstrate examples in each of the key areas. A willingness and a desire to learn and develop, however, is essential for this position. The successful candidate will be supported in his or her development within the team and relevant training provided as necessary

Responsibilities

• Site survey and model production

• Project initiation, setting up and establishing new projects with appropriate file structures and BIM standards.

• 3D project delivery, management of modelling duties, co-ordinate with modelling teams and ensure integration of modelling information with other disciplines.

• Preparation and presentation of progress for discussion at meetings.

• Implementation and compliance of Atkins CAD / BIM manuals and standards.

• Production management of drawn information in the appropriate format to meet project timescales.

• Implement quality control and ensure adherence to standards with consistency of approach across REVIT output.

• Advice and mentorship of junior CAD staff within the team on projects

• Support for tenders and proposals requiring digital information content.
