Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Philadelphia Aviation East Group as an Aviation Engineer. Willing to consider Roadway Engineers in lieu of Aviation experience.
MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE:
Our Aviation group in Philadelphia is looking for an experienced engineer to join our growing team. This person would have the ability to work individually and as part of a team to deliver civil engineering design for airport related projects. Previous aviation experience is a plus, but experience with Civil 3D is required. Willing to consider roadway experience in lieu of aviation.
JOB DUTIES:
Prepares designs for aviation projects such as taxiway, runway and ramp replacements. Produces designs and prepares construction drawings and specifications for airport improvement projects such as grading, drainage, pavement and geometry plans. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials or procedures, or difficult coordination requirements.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering. This level my be achieved by Engineers with 2 years' experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S. The typical incumbent has 3 to 5 years' experience since Bachelor's degree.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Technical writing, computer and communications skills required. CAD skills preferred. Civil 3D experience required.
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS:
E.I. or EIT is required. Applicants with a PE license will be considered for a Sr. Engineer title.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Under direction, applies full competency in conventional engineering work and broad knowledge of precedents in specialty area. On design assignments, understands how to clearly convey the design intent to engineering drawings and specifications. On assignments involving engineering investigations and planning work, has a firm grasp of the fundamentals of engineering processes and their application to operating systems. On projects involving engineering services related to construction activities, has developed a thorough understanding of construction methods and the manner in which engineering drawings and specifications are translated into the constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.
