Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Henderson, NV Civil Group as a Civil CAD Designer.

Major Function/Role:
Provide design, production and coordination of construction plans and drawings in support of engineering or architectural project(s) under the direction of an engineer. Incumbent to select and recommend design procedures, as well as prepare improvement plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D, for civil-related projects such as roadways, waterlines, sanitary sewer lines, storm drains, stormwater retention/detention facilities, and site grading/drainage.

Job Duties:
Work involves analytical ability to select and recommend design procedures, interpret complex ordinances and specifications, analyze design requirements and provide design solutions .Must be familiar with all aspects of preparing a set of improvement plans, including setting up sheets in Civil 3D, CAD layer management, "xreferencing", preparing cover sheets, general notes sheets, plan and profile sheets, preparing details, cutting crosssections, determining earthwork volumes, performing quantity takeoffs, and addressing agency and/or in-house review comments. May be asked from time-to-time to assist with CAD drafting of redlines for traffic control and street
lighting plans.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or equivalent technical discipline plus five years' experience, or Associate's degree plus a minimum of twelve years' progressive drafting and design experience, including at least four as a Designer, or HS diploma (or equivalent) plus a minimum of fifteen years progressive drafting and design experience, including at least seven as a Designer.

Special Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required; Experience with ProjectWise and/or Blue Beam a plus. Good technical writing and communication skills a plus. Familiarity with City of Las Vegas and Clark County design requirements and standards a plus. Familiarity with ArcGIS and/or MS Project a plus.
