Civil Engineering Designer

AtkinsRéalis’ Infrastructure West team provides multidisciplinary design and project management services to a diverse portfolio of private and public sector clients in western Canada.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineering Designer to support our teams across Canada and primarily in BC.   

This is a hybrid position based out of any of our offices in British Columbia.

Your role within the team

As a member of our Infrastructure West team, you will:

  • Geometric design for a variety of road and highway infrastructure projects;

  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design drawings for multidisciplinary projects including plans, profiles, typical cross-sections, grading and drainage, property impacts, geometrics and laning, spot elevations, signing and pavement markings, detours and construction staging;

  • Prepare of 3D digital models of the proposed design;

  • Develop cost estimates based on quantity take-offs and unit prices;

  • Lead/Support in the preparation of project tender documents, proposals and fee estimates;

  • Providing mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians to ensure the technical adequacy of all work;

  • Contributing to or preparing project documentation including design briefs, design criteria, engineering reports, drawings and specifications to summarize the approach taken and project relevant results, and presenting to clients.

The ideal candidate

  • Holds an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, and PEng. with EGBC.

  • 7+ years of progressive civil engineering experience in road and highway design.

  • Working knowledge of application of TAC Geometric Design Guidelines, BC MOTI Supplement to TAC and AASHTO design standards is mandatory;

  • Experience with CAD/Civil 3D and related standards is mandatory. Knowledge of MicroStation and InRoads is considered an asset.

  • Experience with the preparation of design reports and technical notes.

  • Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments within Canada.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $87,500 - $120,300 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
