Atkins has been providing infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture, and program management services to public and private clients across the United States for more than 50 years.

Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our Ft. Lauderdale office as a Civil Engineer.

Under supervision, performs routine engineering work while developing professional proficiency. On design assignments, works to learn how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications. On assignments involving investigations and planning, works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems. On assignments involving construction activities, works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

Job Duties:

Generally applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of somewhat diversified tasks requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.

Assist the design team working on civil engineering design projects including stormwater management and storm sewer systems, land development, site layout, potable water and sanitary sewer system improvements, and roadway improvements.

Assist with design work, drafting, shop drawing review, field work, code research, project delivery, site and environmental permitting, report writing.

Opportunities may exist for assisting the coastal engineering and airport planning groups depending on project staffing requirements.

Qualifications/Special Skills:

Knowledge and experience with stormwater, water and sewer modeling.

May be eligible to receive project management training.

Good interpersonal skills and capable of developing technical writing, and communications skills.

Civil 3D experience required.

Education and Experience:

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. This level my be achieved by Engineers with 2 years' experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S. The typical incumbent has 3 to 5 years' experience since Bachelor's degree

Professional Registrations:

E.I. or EIT required or in the process of obtaining certification.
