Atkins, an SNC Lavalin company, is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies; we have the breadth and depth of expertise to respond to the most technically challenging and time critical infrastructure projects. We work with water companies in the UK and overseas, supporting their capital and operational projects and programmes, and due to growth in this sector, following significant framework appointments, our Infrastructure Business is currently seeking to appoint a Civil/Water Engineer in Leeds.

The successful candidate will join our Civil Engineering and Advanced Technology team, and will undertake the design of water/wastewater assets delivering outcomes across both clean and wastewater, infrastructure and non-infrastructure areas, primarily in Yorkshire but from time to time for water clients elsewhere in the UK and overseas. A significant proportion of the role will also involve assuring work done by other parties on behalf of our client.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a key role in the design/assurance team on a variety of water and wastewater projects
  • Undertake design activities in accordance with relevant design standards and codes
  • Carry out the assurance of work by others on behalf of our client
  • Support on digital engineering and its use in innovative design solutions
  • Preparation of proposals/estimates/budgets for design/assurance activities
  • Contribute to the development of internal and external client relationships
  • Understanding of relevant H&S Legislation and Accepted Industry Practices.
  • Carry out tasks and assignments to programme budget and quality
  • Contribute to winning work and support work winning teams

Role requirements:

  • Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Recently Chartered (or nearing) Civil Engineer or equivalent professional qualification
  • Demonstrable experience within a Water Engineering Design or Assurance environment across a range of schemes, including multi-disciplinary design
  • Up to date knowledge of current design codes and design software relating to Civil and Water Engineering
  • Understanding of BIM and it’s application in the Water Industry
  • Ability to collaborate within a project and team environment to achieve the desired outcome
  • Ability to work with our key clients to develop and maintain professional relationships which can secure repeat business
  • Willingness to contribute to our technical knowledge network
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Experience of working in the UK Water Industry
  • Some travel may be required to other Atkins UK Offices as required.
