Atkins has formed an excellent reputation assisting its Defence customers acquiring new ICT capability. We are currently at the forefront advising MOD how to take advantage of the latest best practice approaches, including cloud hosting, ‘Agile’, Infrastructure as a Service, Government as a Platform, etc.

We are looking to add a Business Development Lead to our team, focussed on the customer relationships and client needs within Defence Information Services, helping us to expand further within this sector.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a security vetting process and offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted


Role Responsibilities:

Develop trusted customer relationships at all levels
Develop and in opportunities to increase Atkins revenue and margin in area of responsibility (target to be agreed)
BD lead for opportunities/campaigns/bids/propositions
Plan, manage, develop and report on BD, propositions, customer engagement and BD collateral/events
Work well with the existing Atkins teams

Essential Experience

Extensive proven consultancy business development experience within the Information Services domain
Expert knowledge and experience of the consultancy business development cycle and process
Excellent knowledge of the current drivers, objectives and likely future direction for Information Services and for the Defence domain
Excellent interaction skills with customers and own staff
Excellent time management and work prioritisation ability (eg early qualification of prospects)
Ability to understand and effectively communicate the business implications of the latest Information Services concepts
Ability to get the best out of technical teams and the wider operation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent presentation and bid-writing skills
Flexible approach to work, able to work alone and as part of the wider Atkins team
