Due to our expanding portfolio of project and clients, we are looking to recruit a senior or principal consultant into our Climate Futures team.  The successful candidate will take a leading role on our internationally-focussed work, managing bids and working on international development and climate change projects, as well as providing inputs to UK projects. The candidate will interface with our strategic advisory service business (Atkins Acuity), our international offices and our Market Directors to provide advisory and technical services including:
 
  • Innovative financing mechanisms to identify and realise climate finance funding
  • Economic assessment and technical assistance
  • Economic appraisal and inputs to decision frameworks
  • Project management and programme co-ordination
  • Policy advice and strategic planning
  • Project proposal, funding application and business cases development
  • Institutional capacity building 


 

Our international clients include Climate Funds, Development Finance Institutions and Government Ministries.

 

  • The post holder will have an MSc (or PhD) in policy, finance or economics or a closely related discipline, with experience and interest in climate change and international development. 
  • Significant experience, including international projects and work for Development Finance Institutions and beneficiaries
  • Knowledge of climate change adaptation
  • Significant experience of climate finance and/or economic analysis
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Fluent in English and at least one other language an advantage
  • A willingness to work overseas for short and potentially longer-term assignments
  • Excellent report-writing skills, with the ability to review evidence and produce succinct and timely summaries
  • Excellent bid writing skills, bringing a combination of technical and commercial experience
  • Excellent numerical skills, with experience of working with spreadsheets
  • Good presentational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels within and outside Atkins
  • Be able to work as part of a team, as well as individually
