Our talent and capability within the Nuclear Sector is highly recognised, and being involved in a new generation of UK Nuclear Power Stations means that we are now looking for Commercial Managers within the Industry Sector as part of our Commercial team to support our Clients project teams working on Nuclear New Build programmes.
 
These positions cover projects in the West Region and will involve being based from our network of offices, client offices and sites.
 
The Commercial Manager is an important role, with accountability to the Senior Commercial Manager, for the successful commercial administration of one or more of our Client’s contracts. As such the Commercial Manager is empowered to make decisions around principle accountability areas including Procurement, execution and closeout phases under the overall guidance of the Senior Commercial Manager and in accordance with delegated levels of authority.
 
The Commercial Manager will be the primary point of commercial contact on the contract/s assigned to them and will be required to work closely and pro-actively with the other stakeholders at all levels and across all the teams within our Client’s organisation to ensure that the requirements of the individual contracts and their impact upon the overall Project are successfully delivered.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person with an appropriate background in the Industry sector, which will ideally be in nuclear, petro-chemical, pharmaceutical, infrastructure or manufacturing, to take their career to the next level.


We are looking for astute and motivated Commercial Managers to be responsible and accountable for:

 

  • Leading a commercial team of 0-10 people.
  • The day to day management of Commercial Assistants under their control.
  • Providing support to the procurement process during the Procurement phase (pre-award).
  • Providing commercial management of contracts during the execution phase (post-award).
  • Providing commercial management for the delivery of contract final account agreements (close out).
  • Responsible for the delivery of the contract in accordance with our Client’s governance requirements to meet the project and business objectives.
  • Professional development of self and people within the team.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Principal Accountabilities (see below) are implemented in accordance with our Client’s Commercial Procedures.
 
 
To join us, you will have:
 
  • Recently achieved full membership of (or progressing towards) the RICS / CICES / IOB or equivalent professional body is essential.
  • Educated to relevant degree level is preferable.
  • Able to demonstrate a noteworthy track record of administering successful contracts.
  • Demonstrable track record of operating within a team and exhibiting appropriate behaviours.
  • Effective commercial / contract management skills are essential, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies.
  • Good commercial skills and ability to make sound decisions on matters of financial value.
  • Understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management.
  • Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels.
  • Familiarity with most common Forms of Contract (NEC & FIDIC) within the power construction industry and major projects and programme environment; with particular knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function is essential.
  • Demonstrable IT skills and literacy with ability to use commercial management tools such as, but not limited to, CEMAR and SAP.
  • Familiar with the nuclear site licence conditions and the nuclear baseline philosophy preferred (but essential).
  • Good understanding of UK regulatory frameworks.

You may be required to travel regularly as part of the role so a full driving licence is required. You may also be required to undertake a Clients competency assessment panel prior to being placed in role.  The UK Government have taken steps to reduce net migration to the UK by limiting the number of overseas workers from outside the EEA coming to the UK for employment. Please note that whilst we are able to consider applications from overseas workers from outside the EEA (who require a Tier 2 (General) visa) we can only employ them if we can provide evidence that there are no other suitable candidates for this vacancy from inside the EEA.
