Helping our clients manage complex programmes and projects and transform their businesses in response to internal and external influences and opportunities is a core skill for our Consultants. Within the Transformation & Delivery Practice our P3M Delivery teams work with clients to solve some of the most interesting challenges facing organisations today. Our wide-ranging clients include central government, defence, airports, universities and infrastructure. The role

Atkins deliver client solutions across busy, customer facing, operational environments and we are looking to attract Project Managers with experience ranging from those still early in their professional career through to Senior Project Managers keen to develop to the next level in a reputable and collegiate consulting environment. We are particularly keen to identify and grow people with an appreciation of the transformative effects of technology. This can be but is not limited to technical understanding of digital disruptors, digital strategy, integrating disruptive technology with people and cultural change

You’ll be joining a growing and supportive team committed to delivering value to our clients and developing our propositions. These roles will be predominately based on client site with some time spent with the wider Atkins team at one of our base locations Bristol, Cheltenham, Silchester, London Victoria, Epsom or Aldershot. 

The successful candidate will have been engaged in project delivery roles that across a range of sectors that could include Government, Defence or Transportation.  Their delivery experience will include exposure to some of the following Engineering, IT and Transformational Change.  Our roles are suitable for candidates who have a background in using either Agile Project Management, or more traditional waterfall methods. Working from within our P3M Delivery Practice, you will primarily work as a client facing member of a project team, leading your own work package(s) and project teams. 

The successful candidate must be an effective communicator and be self-motivating to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. They must have confidence in their ability to successfully manage the People, Processes and Technology elements of our projects.

  • Versatility – Manage client demands whilst contributing to the internal development of the P3M Delivery Practice

Technical requirements

  • Proven track record with experience of delivering IT, Engineering or Transformational Change project across the full lifecycle from requirements capture and design through to development, testing and deployment.  This experience may have been gained in the Public or Private sector. 
  • Understanding of structured e.g. APM, P2 and Agile methodologies and ideally an awareness of Programme Management
  • Desire to work in a consultancy environment with the ability to work ‘with two hats’ - both client side and internally for Atkins
  • An understanding of basic business analysis capabilities particularly high level requirements capture and process mapping is desirable.
  • Project planning, monitoring and reporting, with P6, Microsoft Project or JIRA experience desirable
  • Issue and Risk management
  • Ability to assess impacts of change to various stakeholders and knowledge of Change Management Processes.
  • Ability to track project finances, understand of profit margins and report on commercial elements of the project
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend actions to clients , communicating both to key stakeholders and presenting information through reports, dashboards and slides as appropriate
  • Commercially astute, able to effectively manage assignments on time, on budget. It is desirable if you have experience of managing 3rd Party Suppliers
  • Experience in working in the aviation or transportation sectors and operational environments is highly desirable. 
  • Knowledge and experience of Agile delivery approaches including DSDM and SCRUM, but also Agile at scale using methodologies such as SaFE is highly desirable
