SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Tampa, Florida office as a Payroll Specialist.



MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Prepares and inputs payroll transactional data to produce on-time payroll. Reviews and analyzes payroll data and reports to ensure accurate and balanced payroll consistent with policies and regulations. Provides quality client service.


JOB DUTIES

  • Work involves a complex payroll operation. Analytical ability necessary to interpret routine data, adhere to compliance regulations and balance accounts.
  • Prepares, inputs and reviews routine payroll transactional data to produce on-time, accurate and balanced payroll. 
  • Reviews timesheet data searching for errors or inconsistencies. 
  • Reviews exception data for accuracy. 
  • Reviews audit reports for accuracy of payroll data, both input and imported. 
  • Calculates and balances other routine payroll tasks, such as manual checks. 
  • Assists employee population with routine payroll related queries, resolves and responds timely, providing quality client service. 
  • Researches non-routine payroll related queries and escalates timely to direct supervisor or Payroll Manager, providing quality client service. 
  • Learns and applies company policies, processes and procedures. 
  • Provides training to peers and new staff as needed. 
  • Communicates regularly with direct supervisor or Payroll Manager by providing frequent status updates, and appropriately informs and escalates issues. 
  • Applies knowledge with ADP Vantage & ADP Workforce Now applications. 
  • Applies basic knowledge of payroll, wage and tax regulations. 
  • Applies and supports internal controls compliance requirements. 
  • Assists in year-end preparation, processes, analysis and reconciliation. 
  • Assists with other non-recurring payrolls (e.g. Year-end bonus, PTO cash-in). 
  • Contributes towards team success and is a team player. 
  • Performs other such duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

 



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma required. Two or four-year degree preferred. Some accounting or payroll courses preferred. Minimum three years related payroll experience with basic knowledge of payroll calculations and wage and tax regulations required.


SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Experience with ADP Vantage & ADP Workforce Now systems. Proficient in Microsoft applications. Ability to work on multiple tasks and assignments. Excellent attention to detail and analytical and organizational skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • FPP (Fundamental Payroll Professional) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.

Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; ability to visit project sites if necessary. Job also requires ability to plan, prioritize and review project plans and documents, evaluate alternatives, and devise appropriate solutions.
