About Us

Within the Engineering and Consulting business, our Azerbaijan operation gives us the ability to provide close support to some of our key clients including BP, Total and Statoil. Our full-time presence in Azerbaijan demonstrates our commitment to follow our clients globally and acts as a conduit for specialist work that is carried out by other parts of the Oil & Gas business and draws in resources from this wider business – made of some 20,000 people – to execute work locally.

The majority of the work delivered through our Azerbaijan business comes from BP, namely engineering consultancy, Structural Integrity Management and brownfield modifications & upgrades, but with intent to grow into other areas and sectors. As part of this growth we are now bringing in our colleagues from the Clean Power business and EDPM to provide a holistic support to our clients across sectors and disciplines including onshore and offshore renewables and strategic development masterplanning.

The Role

We are seeking a Country Manager to be based in Azerbaijan, who will be the figurehead of SNC-L/Atkins, to bring enthusiasm and experience to help grow and develop our business. The key task will be to build effective relationships with our clients, existing and new, that will allow us to grow the business in terms of; revenue, FTEs and the portfolio of clients. Within this role, you will have a focus on winning work, engaging with and bringing in new clients, and growing the capability of the business.  You will also have a key part to play in interacting with the rest of the Engineering & Consulting business in the UK and across the globe.  You will play a significant role in developing the strategy and direction for the Azerbaijan operation.

Other key responsibilities include the following:

- Being the point of contact for our clients and partners in Azerbaijan

- Writing and leading competitive tenders.- Maintaining an understanding of the local Azerbaijan market.

- Raising the profile of SNC-L/Atkins locally.- Working with Operations Delivery Leads in the UK to assign resources and grow the ‘virtual teams’.

- Leading and taking responsibility for project management of allocated portfolio of projects.

- Working with local engineering partners to develop their staff and develop collaborative offerings to our clients

The Person

You will have excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.  You will be passionate about putting the client first and you really care about making a difference to our clients, our people, and our business.  Building and developing relationships is a key part of this role, as well as bringing a strong portfolio of relationships with you.  You are motivated by working to sales targets, and you get great satisfaction from growing a pipeline from nothing into an established workstream.  A natural leader and a motivator, you enjoy getting the best out of a team. You will also be required to act as a technical leader in front of our clients, so an engineering background is preferred.

The following is also required;

• A track record in developing clients and winning work.

• Experience in the Oil & Gas sector, with experience in other Energy sectors an additional benefit.

• Established network across the wider Atkins businesses.

• Experience in leading and developing teams.

• A technical background in structural, process or process safety engineering is an additional benefit.

• Experience with portfolio management and/ or engineering management.

• Fluency in Russia, Turkish or Azerbaijani would be an advantage.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
