SNC-Lavalin is going through an exciting period of change.  A Canadian listed engineering and construction firm, on July 2017 they acquired the UK engineering consultancy Atkins bringing with it a great opportunity to re-position the SNC-Lavalin brand in the eyes of our markets and ahead of our competitors.  The combined group now has approximately 50,000 employees around the world and both Atkins and SNC-L’s offerings combined give us the opportunity to continue our growth.  The future of engineering and construction is in the greater use of data, combined with technologies to deliver our services more efficiently and bring different offerings to our clients.  From apps, virtual reality and artificial intelligence, to mobility as a service and digital asset management, we are combining our traditional engineering skills with technology to fundamentally change the way we do things. 

We’re looking for a Data Privacy Analyst to join our expanding Data Privacy team in Bristol to support Atkins and the SNC-Lavalin Group on advising and supporting the business with its Data Privacy Compliance Program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and take responsibility for key elements of the Data Privacy Compliance Programme (as part of meeting GDPR and other compliance Requirements)
  • Assist and take responsibility for informing, advise and issue recommendations to Data Protection Queries from internal stakeholders on global Data Privacy and Personal Data Processing and Protection requirements
  • Assist Data Privacy engagement for External bids and Projects
  • Assist key stakeholders in compliance gap analysis and readiness assessments
  • Review Privacy Impact Assessments and provide risk mitigation actions
  • Creation and maintenance of global documentation, Privacy Notices, Privacy Statements, SOPs, work instructions and guidance notes
  • Assist with managing Subject Access Requests and other data subject requests
  • Assist with the completion of Data Processing Mapping
  • Creation of Training and awareness material for Stakeholder Groups on Data Privacy
  • Assist in creating the reporting on Compliance Status and Risk from Privacy Management Software

Requirements

  • Ability to research and distil information to solve complex commercial data issues;
  • Understanding of international and European data protection laws and practices and an in-depth understanding of the GDPR;
  • Experience in data privacy, data protection, information management and governance, compliance, legal, IT, data or project fields
  • Integrity and high professional ethics;
  • Ability to handle information and business affairs with secrecy and confidentially as appropriate;
  • Must be pragmatic with the ability to communicate effectively with the management within the organization;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders, data subjects, data protection authorities and other controllers and processors across national boundaries and cultures;
  • Adequate self-awareness and confidence to acknowledge knowledge gaps and seek to fill them from reliable sources;
