Atkins’ Transportation is our centre of excellence for the design of highway and rail infrastructure projects. We aim to be the first choice designer for local and national highway authorities, Network Rail, contractors and developers. We are working on a number of high profile projects and frameworks nationwide, including Cambridge to Huntingdon A14 upgrade and Smart Motorways programme through the Collaborative Delivery Framework for Highways England, Cross Rail, Great Western Electrification Programme, HS2 and related projects.

Working for the Planning Manager, the primary responsibility is to assist the Planning Manager and Senior Planners to produce, update and maintain specific agreed elements of the Integrated Programme in conjunction with the respective accountable managers in line with the project controls strategy and schedule management process.

Responsible for ensuring on time reporting to the project and management team to display control, progress and understanding in the design process.


Accountable for:
• Produce a compliant programme and agree with relevant accountable Project Managers
• Produce a compliant programme detailing any procurement and design prerequisites
• Sign off on Programme Updates and Communicate issues
• Programme Integration Management
• Follow Alliance change management process
• Dashboard, Status & KPI Reporting
• Monitoring and communication of Critical Paths
• Conduct Planning Reviews on a Periodic Basis to ensure compliance to process and procedures
• Key Milestone Reporting
• Allocation of agreed budgets in programme to produce forecast budget spreads
• Ensure programme materials meet the minimum requirement of EWR2 policies and procedure
• Produce, Agree and Monitor part of a GRIP 4 or 5 programme.
• Ensure relevant budget / cost information is correctly represented in the programme.
• Ensuring that any programme issues are highlighted and actively pursued to mitigation via the Responsible Manager

Drive collaborative working behaviours through the planning team and across the alliance; contribute to team events; respond to information on Alliance Behaviours as requested, ensure any safety concerns with regards to programme are highlighted, visibility of programme for efficient team working and communication.

User knowledge of Primavera P6 Software, Microsoft Office and basic planning techniques
Previous exposure to the Network Rail design process

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
