SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Digital Asset Manager and Operations Department as a Digital Asset Performance Management Leader in the United States.  This position can be supported remotely or can be based out of any Atkins office within the United States. 

 
 
BACKGROUND
 

Atkins is part of the SNC Lavalin Group of companies.  SNC Lavalin and Atkins are global leaders in Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations (AECO).  As such, we are aggressively growing our Digital Asset Management and Operations (DAMO) business to support both internal and external clients.  This business combines leading technology capabilities with inherently deep engineering knowledge of assets and strong domain expertise in asset management and operations.  Through this combination of capabilities, we help reduce costs, control risks, and improve whole life asset performance of critical infrastructure and other assets that we and our clients operate.

 
 
JOB DETAILS
 

The Asset Performance Management (APM) Leader will be responsible for defining, promoting and delivering our APM solutions as part of the broader Digital Asset Management and Operations (DAMO) group at SNC-Lavalin.  Per Gartner, APM is “a market of software tools and applications for optimizing operational assets (such as plants, equipment and infrastructure) essential to the operation of an enterprise. Organizations invest in APM tools and technologies to reduce unplanned repair work, increase asset availability, minimize maintenance costs and reduce the risk of failure for critical assets.” 

 

The APM Leader will be responsible for selecting key APM technology partners, defining our implementation methodology, developing re-usable service accelerators and IP, and promoting and delivering our APM offering.  A key aspect of this role will be to work with our technology team to develop state of the art machine learning models to support APM capabilities within client organizations.  These innovative algorithms and models will make intelligent and automated decisions in real time.

 

The role will collaborate closely with key functions, including engineering, sales, commercial and technology teams, across all SNC-Lavalin business sectors. 

 

The ideal leader will combine expert knowledge of Asset Performance Management  (including asset strategy and risk management, reliability centered maintenance, condition based maintenance, and predictive asset management, failure mode and effect analysis, etc), with basic knowledge of data analytics (including artificial intelligence, and machine learning).

 

The role will require domestic and international travel.

 
 
KEY DELIVERABLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Select and develop strategic APM technology partners

  • Develop our APM offerings, value proposition and differentiation

  • Define our implementation methodology
  • Work with the SNC-Lavalin Digital Factory to develop re-usable IP in the form of machine learning models

  • Work with the SNC-Lavalin business units to help sell our APM offerings

  • Work with the business units and our Digital Factory to help deliver our APM offerings

  • Communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to our clients and internal partners in a language they can understand

  • Work with some of the best recognized AI/data science experts from the Academia, Think Tanks, AI Incubators to design and implement applied AI/data science models to support APM solutions.

  • Communicate progress, challenges and corrective actions required to achieve goals.

 
 


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 
  • Degree in Engineering, Operations, Computer Science, Mathematics, Computational Statistics or related technical field.

  • Experience applying APM practices and methods (e.g. predictive asset management, reliability centered maintenance, etc)

  • 5+ years of relevant employment experience.
  • Some familiarity with one of the major commercial off the shelf APM platforms (e.g. GE, AVEVA, Aspentech, etc)

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written.  Ability to explain highly technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, communicate at all levels, and work and lead across a highly complex and matrixed organization

 
 
DESIRED SKILLS
 
  • Experience developing algorithms using data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

  • Experience working in a fast pace technology environment that utilise design thinking, lean start up and agile delivery approaches

  • Commercial and business skills (e.g. negotiation, P&L optimization, etc)
