Atkins is shaping the future of transportation and we’re looking for talented people to join us in developing and expanding our Transport Asset Management Practice. Atkins has been the leading consultancy in Transport Asset Management in the UK for over 10 years and we’re looking to add an additional Director to our leadership team to help us continue to shape the sector. 


You’ll be a recognised expert in asset management, with a track record of leading project delivery in the public and private sectors; and be keen to work with colleagues and clients to win new business, deliver technically excellent results and support our team in developing their own skills and careers.


Our teams are working with all trunk road agencies in the UK and Ireland as well as numerous local authorities and the private sector, leading on a wide range of asset management services. Your role will vary from project to project but will see you leading technical delivery, assuring project success and working as part of client’s teams to drive results.


We are a national practice based at locations across the UK and with a central hub in our Birmingham office, we’re a flexible employer and will always consider the right candidates nationally. 


A typical week will see you both in our Atkins offices leading delivery teams, as well as visiting clients across the country. We also support the wider Atkins group with international projects and occasional overseas travel will form part of the role.


Your main responsibilities will be:

 

• Working with the Strategic Highways and Local Transport Markets and the Practice Director in delivering our strategy for a growing asset management portfolio

• Create and identify opportunities and translate them into revenue, contributing to our strong pipeline, in accordance with the agreed strategy

• Lead and contribute to the successful delivery of projects across all markets in the Practice

• Work across Atkins to ensure we’re delivering our full range of services, skills and experience to all of our clients

• Develop strong relationships with key clients and contacts within the client organisations, leading to successful win work activities and project delivery 

• Contribute to our work transforming and challenging the way our clients operate

• Take a proactive role in business development activities and lead on appropriate bidding

• Contribute to developing a successful Transport Asset Management Practice through staff mentoring and development as well as recruitment.

• Identify strategic supply chain partners and develop strong working relationships



We want to hear from candidates with the following:

• Chartered Engineer or equivalent

• Member of the Institute of Asset Management

• Proven leader with a clear track record in an asset management role

• Recognised expert in asset management with demonstrable thought leadership, preferably within the transportation sector

• Great communicator with excellent client management skills

• Collaborative worker thriving as both the leader, or part of, an integrated team

• Successful business development lead with experience of targeting and winning work
